Michael Guthrie, DDS

Dr. Michael Guthrie has been practicing full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery since 1996. Dr. Guthrie attended Stanford University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. Prior to residency, Dr. Guthrie earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery.  Dr. Guthrie completed his General Practice Residency at the Veterans Medical Center in Washington, D.C.  Dr. Guthrie completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Howard University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where he received the  Thomas J. Pinson Award for Surgical Excellence and Outstanding Academic Achievement as Chief Resident. While in residency training, Dr. Guthrie was on staff and had hospital affiliations with DC General Hospital and the Veterans Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Guthrie is certified and licensed by the State of Illinois as an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist. He is also certified by the American Heart Association in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He is a member of the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology and attends the Annual General Anesthesia Conference. He is also a member of local, state and national societies of dentistry and oral & maxillofacial surgery.

In addition to his private practice work, Dr. Guthrie has served as a past President of the Chicago Dental Society, Kenwood Hyde Park Branch. Dr. Guthrie has philanthropic involvement with Make a Wish Foundation and is a founding member of the Legacy Foundation, which is committed to global world health. In his free time, Dr. Guthrie enjoys sports, fitness, travel, music, the arts and practices intermittent fasting to achieve his health goals.
